The Top Italy Tours to Take in 2025

Discover Italy's Timeless Charms

We’ve hand-picked some of the best Italy tours to take this year, including the Amalfi Coast, Tuscany, Puglia, Sardinia and the Italian Lakes.

Italy truly has everything from stunning lakes to beautiful beaches, captivating cities to the prettiest hilltop towns, 58 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and some of the world’s best cuisine.

However, with so many amazing sights and cities to see, how do you choose where to holiday in Italy?

At Topflight, we are a multi-award-winning and family-owned business who have been looking after Irish holidaymakers in Italy for over 40 years. Many of our tours to Italy have multiple activities planned, but almost all tours include at least two leisure days so you can explore on your own.

Whether you want to explore the Italian lakes, the Puglia or Tuscan countryside, the Amalfi Coast, Cinque Terre or the island of Sardinia, Topflight has an Italy escorted tour to suit you. And, if you can’t find someone to go with you, don’t panic, our tours cater for solo travellers too!

We’ve handpicked some of the best Italian tour destinations below that are very popular, so you can live La Dolce Vita!

Top Amalfi Coast Tours

The Amalfi Coast is one of Italy’s most captivating destinations. From the pastel-painted houses of Positano, to the hilltop town of Ravello, from lively Sorrento to the stunning Isle of Capri, there are so many beautiful places to explore. And that’s on top of a coastline packed with ancient sites and surrounded by turquoise seas.

Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, Vesuvius & Pompeii Tour

Do you want an Italian tour that places you in the heart of Sorrento, and gives you the freedom to dine out at your leisure? This seven-night group tour allows you to do just that – your stay is in the superbly located Conca Park Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.

A full day tour of the Amalfi Coast will surely be one of the highlights. You will enjoy stops in Positano and Amalfi before taking the ferry to Salerno, giving you the opportunity to enjoy views of the Amalfi Coast from land and sea.

Top Italy Tours of Lake Garda and Lake Como

Choosing which of Italy’s beautiful lakes to visit is not easy! Italy’s largest lake, Lake Garda, is a firm favourite with Irish holidaymakers, and has over 50 beautiful villages and historic towns to explore.

However, don’t overlook Lake Como – there is a reason it is the destination of choice for discerning travellers and celebrities! Luckily, Topflight have a selection of tours to both lakes with visits to nearby cities and attractions.

Lake Como, Bellagio, Milan & the Centovalli Train

Explore Lake Como, the stylish city of Milan, and ride the Centovalli Train to Switzerland on one unforgettable trip! The base for this Italian tour is the top-rated Hotel Lumin in Cremia, where you will stay on a bed and breakfast basis for seven nights. This family-run hotel offers stunning lake views and boasts direct lakeside access.

Catch the scenic ferry to the Pearl of Lake Como, Bellagio, on a day trip which also allows time to explore the pretty town of Tremezzo. The day trip from Domodossola to the Swiss town of Locarno on the Centovalli Train is sure to be an unforgettable experience. Witness stunning scenery as you cross 80 bridges and pass through pretty Italian villages and lush valleys.

A guided walking tour of Milan is also included, followed by free time to enjoy this stylish city. You will also enjoy three free days to explore Lake Como at your leisure.

Lake Garda, Lake Iseo with Verona, Bergamo & Brescia

Sirmione is one of my favourite towns in Lake Garda, and it is your base for this fabulous Italy tour. You will be staying at Hotel Oliveto located in Desenzano, which is a short walk from the lakefront and town centre.

Your first day trip takes you to the historic city of Brescia and the charming hilltop town of Bergamo Alta. Ride a funicular up to Bergamo Alta, where you’ll have time to wander through its ancient streets and enjoy panoramic views.

A day trip combining wine tasting in Franciacorta with a ferry journey across Lake Iseo will surely be another remarkable day. When you visit Montisola, the largest lake island in Europe, you will have free time here to discover it at your leisure.

A guided tour of Verona is the final day trip on this epic Italian tour, which also includes three full days to explore Lake Garda at your leisure.

Lake Garda & Venice

If you are looking for Italy tours with plenty of free time, then this slow-paced tour is for you. Spend seven nights in the top-rated Splendid Palace Hotel in Limone on a half board basis, where you will have four full days to explore Lake Garda at your leisure.

A full day tour of Lake Garda by boat will bring you to Garda and the beautiful towns of Sirmione and Salo, and a full day guided visit of Venice, including a private motorboat ride, will ensure that to see all of the highlights of the Floating City.

Top Tuscany Tours

Tuscany is one of my favourite regions in Italy. I have visited on many occasions, and would you believe we almost bought a house there 20 years ago! As well as the stunning cities of Florence and Siena and it’s medieval walled towns, scenic drives through Tuscany’s rolling hills are an attraction in itself. These wonderful Italy tours will allow you to see many of Tuscany’s highlights on an epic trip.

Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca & Florence

This fabulous itinerary takes in the iconic cities of Florence and Pisa as well as some of my favourite parts of Tuscany, Siena, Lucca and San Gimignano. You will be staying at the top-rated Hotel Croce di Malta for seven nights, in the beautiful spa town of Montecatini Terme. This is the perfect base to explore Tuscany.

Visit Florence’s stunning Duomo, Pisa’s Leaning Tower, Siena’s Piazza del Campo, and explore the medieval towns of Lucca and San Gimignano. As well as guided tours, you will also have three full days to explore Tuscany at your leisure.

Tuscany with Umbria by Steam Train

Looking for a Tuscany tour that brings you off the beaten track? This five-night tour might just do the trick. You will be based in the charming city of Arezzo and enjoy escorted tours of Perugia and Assisi, followed by a second tour visiting Montepulciano, Pienza and Bagno Vignoni.

Perugia is the capital of Umbria, and its historic centre is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the area, while the town of Assisi is renowned for its churches, in particular the Basilica of Saint Francis. On your second tour, you will visit the towns and villages of the Val d’Orcia – a region I would love to return to. It has a countryside filled with rolling hills, cypress trees, and the prettiest hilltop towns and cities, such as Montepulciano and Pienza.

However, I’m sure the highlight of this tour will be the vintage steam train journey from Siena through the Ombrone Valley to the UNESCO heritage site of Val d’Orcia. Depending on the time of year you visit, you can enjoy the Orcia Wine Festival (April) or the Festival of Olive Oil (October).

Cinque Terre, Elba, Chianti, Pisa & Lucca

This tour highlights Italy’s diverse regions and includes a variety of activities over four day trips. You will be staying in the Hotel Atlantico in Forte di Marmi on the Tuscan Coast on a half-board basis for seven nights. This is ideally situated to explore both Tuscany and Cinque Terre, and with two days at leisure, you can enjoy some beach time too.

Excursions to the stunning cities of Siena, Lucca, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa are included, as well as an afternoon wine tasting in Chianti and a scenic ferry ride to the beautiful island of Elba.

A full day exploring the captivating Cinque Terre by boat and train is also included – this is one of the most beautiful coastal trails in the world, it is only when you see the five villages with your own eyes that you will see why.

A Taste of Puglia with Alberobello, Matera, Lecce & Polignano

With five UNESCO World Heritage Sites, stunning beaches and some of Italy’s prettiest towns, Puglia needs to be on your bucket list. I took a short break there a few years ago and would love to return to see more.

This super seven-night tour takes you to most of Puglia’s highlights, and you will still have two days to explore at your leisure. You will be staying in the top-rated Relais Porta del Sud Hotel with breakfast and evening meal included each day.

Visit the pretty town of Alberobello, which is famous for its unique Trulli houses with conical roofs, the ‘White City’ of Ostuni, the historic city of Lecce, the pretty village of Locorotondo and the seaside towns of Otranto and Polignano a Mare. Visits to local burrata and olive oil producers are also included, where you will have the chance to sample the authentic Apulian cuisine.

As well as Puglia’s highlights, this tour of Italy includes a visit to the ancient city of Matera, which is located in neighbouring Basilicata. Matera is one of the most remarkable cities in Italy. It is a UNESCO-World Heritage city that has been inhabited for over 9000 years. I felt like I was stepping onto a movie set. Matera is guaranteed to take your breath away!

Sardinia & Corsica

Swap Italy’s ancient cities for Sardinia’s stunning beaches on this new Topflight escorted tour. You will be based at the Hotel AHR Baja near Sardinia’s exclusive Costa Smeralda, where you will stay on a half board basis for seven nights.

Enjoy a full day tour exploring the Costa Smeralda’s glamorous towns and magnificent marinas, and enjoy a scenic boat ride around the La Maddalena archipelago – this area is famous for having some of Europe’s best beaches and extraordinary turquoise waters. A visit to a local vineyard is also included in Sardinia.

This tour includes a full-day trip to Corsica. Travel by ferry to the stylish French island where you will enjoy a train ride to the scenic upper town and a guided walking tour, as well as free time to explore at your leisure.
