Schladming, with its 5000 inhabitants, lies 750m above sea level and is located right in the mountains. It is the very centre of the Schladming-Dachstein region, which boasts some of the most beautiful mountainous landscapes in Austria.
A medieval town, Schladming dates back to 1322 making it an interesting and very beautiful place to discover. Visitors will find picturesques churches and historic buildings nestled among more modern buildings throughout the town giving it real charm.
The region offers a huge amount of variety for those who love to ski. Besides modern lift systems, two cutting-edge new lift systems on Galsterberg and Rittisberg, and the 4-mountain-ski area which connects 4 skiing mountains with each other and offer 123km of prepared slopes. It offers mostly red runs.
The pedestrianised town centre provides the perfect spot for a wander after a day on the slopes. Browse in the charming shops or take to a street side café for a cup of something to warm the bones. There is great variety in Schladming for aprés-ski, so if you fancy a wholesome and hearty meal, or prefer to dance the night away in one of the nightclubs, you’ll find what you are looking for here.
Why not try a visit to the Sky Walk viewing platform during your stay, situated at an eye watering 2,700m high. On a clear day you can experience breathtaking views right across to Slovenia’s Triglav mountains as well as the Czech border. It really is a sight to behold.
