Alberobello is one of the most recognisable towns in southern Italy and the jewel of the Itria Valley in the heart of Puglia. Best known for its unique trulli – whitewashed stone houses topped with distinctive conical roofs – the town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Originally built using local limestone without mortar, these remarkable buildings have become one of Italy's most iconic sights and remain home to shops, cafés, restaurants and local families today.
The town is divided into two historic districts, Rione Monti and Aia Piccola, where narrow streets wind between hundreds of beautifully preserved trulli. As you wander through the town, you'll find artisan boutiques, traditional trattorias and inviting piazzas where you can stop for a coffee or enjoy a leisurely lunch while watching everyday life unfold. The Church of Saint Anthony, itself built in the trullo style, and the panoramic viewpoints across the rooftops are among Alberobello's highlights.
Alberobello also makes an excellent base for exploring the wider Puglia region. The white city of Ostuni, the dramatic Adriatic coastline, the baroque streets of Lecce and the charming towns of Locorotondo and Martina Franca are all within easy reach. Surrounded by ancient olive groves, vineyards and rolling countryside, it's the perfect place to experience the authentic flavours, traditions and relaxed pace of life that make Puglia one of Italy's most rewarding destinations.
My name is Lynsey and I have huge passion for both winter and summer sports, having worked for Topflight for over 10 years in Austria, France, Andorra and Italy. As an avid skier and snowboarder, you'll find me making the most of slopes during the winter months and in the summer I swap my skis for sandals to enjoy all that Lake Garda has to offer. I couldn’t possibly choose which season I prefer, I’ve skied since I was 5 years old and I can never get enough but there’s also something really magical about the spending the summer on Lake Garda.
